Gimnyeong Village Lava Stone lighthouses

Gimnyeong means a plentiful and comfortable village. Dodaebul is the name of the private lighthouses on Jeju Island. Fishermen would light up the lamp in the dodaebul at sunset before setting out into the sea, and they would turn it off when they returned home at sunrise. The oil used was sokak oil, which is pine resin in the Jeju dialect.
